PGA DFS: Charles Schwab Challenge Round 3 Breakdown

Course Preview

Thursday/Friday Analysis

Colonial Country Club is there for the taking this year. We have a much stronger field than usual for this event, and there was little to no wind over the first two rounds. However, the course does naturally dry out throughout the day in the Texas summer heat, and the effects of that can be seen via the scoring by wave for the first two rounds.

Thursday AM Golfers = 69.20 scoring average (-0.80 strokes to par)
Thursday PM Golfers = 69.76 scoring average (-0.24 strokes to par)

Friday AM Golfers = 69.72 scoring average (-0.28 strokes to par)
Friday PM Golfers = 70.46 scoring average (+0.46 strokes to par)

As we can see from those splits, the course has played around three-quarters of a stroke easier in the morning hours compared to the afternoon hours. While this is not a massive differential, it is certainly worth noting. There is a potential angle to be played here with Round 3 showdown contests.
