PGA DFS Core Plays: The American Express
Top-ranked grinder, Notorious, breaks down his favorite daily fantasy golf plays at various salary ranges for the coming week’s golf tournament. Who should you be building around? Find out below.
The American Express
After a two-week stretch in Hawaii, we return to California for The American Express. This event has always been a pro-am, but they had to cancel that portion last year due to COVID. They cut it down to two courses and were able to use tougher pin locations. With the pro-am set to resume this year, we will go back to the three-course rotation. This means that we won’t see a cut until after 54 holes (Saturday’s round). This also means that they will be friendly with the pin locations given how many amateurs are set to tee it up this week.
The three courses in play this week are the Stadium Course, the Nicklaus Tournament Course, and the La Quinta Country Club. Each golfer will play each course once over the first three days before returning to the Stadium Course for the fourth and final round (if they make the cut). The Stadium Course is usually the hardest of the three, but these are some of the easiest courses on the PGA Tour. They have all ranked in the bottom 15 in difficulty most years. Each of the last nine winners of this event have finished with a score of at least 20-under par, so you will need to go low in order to contend this week.
