PGA DFS Core Plays: The Genesis Invitational
Top-ranked grinder, Notorious, breaks down his favorite daily fantasy golf plays at various salary ranges for the coming week’s golf tournament. Who should you be building around? Find out below.
Core Plays
There is no beating around the bush — last week was truly awful. It might be my least favorite event of the year and having my worst DFS week didn’t help the cause. The three core plays (Russell Knox, Adam Hadwin, and Jim Furyk) all missed the cut and I had little exposure in MME to Nick Taylor, Jason Day, and Phil Mickelson. I talked up Jordan Spieth and ultimately didn’t play him because I decided to hit the lock button on Dustin Johnson. The worst part about having a bad week is that my loyal readers likely had a bad week as well. All we can do is dust ourselves off and get back on the horse.
For the final event on the West Coast we have the Tiger Woods Invitational aka The Genesis Invitational. We have a smaller field (119 golfers), which means a larger percentage of the field will make the cut. Riviera Country Club is a classical, tree-lined course that has historically been dominated by bombers. While this Par 71 measures less than 7,200 yards, the length is a little misleading. With a drivable par four and one of the shortest par fives on the PGA Tour, it actually plays a bit longer. There are six par fours that measure between 450-500 yards.
