PGA DFS Core Plays: Workday Charity Open

Top-ranked grinder, Notorious, breaks down his favorite daily fantasy golf plays at various salary ranges for the coming week’s golf tournament. Who should you be building around? Find out below.

Workday Charity Open Preview

Even though I locked Bryson DeChambeau in every lineup that I made for the Rocket Mortgage Classic (60 in total), it was still a slightly losing week overall. Brandt Snedeker and Brian Harman really let me down. Snedeker started three over after his first five holes and dug himself too deep of a hole and Harman had one of his worst putting weeks ever. Again, these are to be expected in a volatile sport such as golf. This is where the mantra “trust the process” ie really tested.

For the next two weeks, we’ll be at Muirfield Village Golf Club. It’s strange having the same venue host back-to-back tournaments, but we are living in strange times. The first event will be the Workday Charity Open, which features a larger field than next week. Additionally, the rough is expected to be shorter this week and the greens are going to roll a lot slower (closer to 11 on the stimpmeter compared to 13 next week).

Muirfield Village is Par 72 that will play over 7,400 yards thanks to a few new tee boxes for this event. It is a tree-lined course that requires precision from all aspects of your game. The course isn’t particularly long by today’s standards, but the fairways are tree-lined, the rough can be penal, and water is in play on 11 of the 18 holes. If we look at historical data, fairways here are fairly easy to hit, while greens in regulation and scrambling are both well below tour average.

    Hi Noto,
I really need help with this. How do I know when someone is underpriced on DraftKings and under priced on FanDuel? Is there a template for what an equivalent price point for a golf in DraftKings will be for a golfer in FanDuel (Actually for all major sports). I just really need to get this down please. For example this week is Norlander salary better on DK or on FD. Any input will be great

You have a few different options. You can use our projections in LIneupHQ and look at the pt/$ rankings for each golfer on each site. You can also check out my model video. You can also check out my salary analysis article that shows the percentage of salary cap each golfer costs on both DraftKings and FanDuel:

Eventually I will get back into the Euro world, but not this week. Catlin is always a monster though.

Without necessarily giving out who you’re playing, could you list a few of the 6k guys youre interested in playing? And out of all the 6k plays, where would you rank Norlander? Thanks noto

I do like Norlander, but think he’ll be over 10% owned. Cheap chalk is something I try to avoid, so I’ll take my chances elsewhere. Golfers I like in the sub-$7,000 range:

Furyk, NeSmith, Long, Ortiz, Schwartzel, Davis, Gooch, Cook, and Seiffert.

Playing 3 guys in the 6k range makes me ill.
