Hello, golf fans! Boy, it’s funny how a two week break can seem like forever. Alas, GOLF IS BACK!
When this event was being held in the middle of the summer, it was your standard “meh” tournament with an underwhelming field and a par 70 course. That was especially true with it generally being held in between majors. However, the event now holds a spot at the start of the fall swing season, and it looks much sexier as the event that kicks off a new year!
The Old White TPC course in West Virginia will be the host course this week. While this course isn’t a pushover, there are quite a few short par fours, and golfers aren’t afraid to hit driver a this place with the wide fairways and limited hazards. Driving will be a big key this week, and I will also look at birdie-makers and par four scoring. The winning score at this tournament is usually somewhere in the vicinity of 15 to 17 under par, so guys will need to go low in order to be in contention. Kevin Na won a year ago at -19.
