PGA Championship

Hey there, golf fans! It’s odd to be talking about a major championship in the month of May, but we have the PGA Championship on deck for this week. There are large GPP prize pools out there, and plenty of money is up for grabs. Good luck in seeking out that big payday!

As for this year’s PGA Championship, it will be contested at the famed Bethpage Black course in Farmingdale, New York. Bethpage Black is being set up as a par 70 for this tournament, and it checks in at 7,459 yards on the scorecard. That is massive length for a par 70 layout. Six of the 12 par fours are listed at 460+ yards. Distance off the tee will be a priority for me this week. If you want some comparisons, this course hosted the 2002 and 2009 U.S. Opens and the 2012 and 2016 Barclays tournaments. The winning scores at the U.S. Opens were -3 and -4, and the winning scores at the Barclays were -10 and -9. However, those were with the seventh hole playing as a short par five; it will be a long par four for this tournament. On a converted basis, the winning scores for the Barclays events would have been -6 and -5.
