The Honda Classic

Welcome back, golf fans! The Honda Classic is upon us this week, and it has been moved up a few weeks on the calendar this year after being contested after THE PLAYERS in March a year ago. It was no surprise that we saw a weak field here a year ago given the timing on the calendar, but it is somewhat of a surprise that the field is so poor again this year. In any case, we still have DFS money to be won, including another Millionaire Maker on DraftKings!

Over the last 15 years at this event, the winning score has only gotten into double digits under par four times. Matt Jones was one of those players with a 12-under par finish a year ago, as he won the tournament by five strokes. On two of the other occasions, the second place finisher was only eight under. On the final occasion, there were two other players at ten under. When you add that up, that means only SIX players have shot -10 or better here over the last 15 years — and three of those came in the same year. Par is a valuable score around a very challenging PGA National track, and that will certainly be the case this year in another weak field. I know we have seen a ton of birdie fests to start the 2022 calendar year, but we are almost certainly not going to see that again. The rough is being allowed to be grown out to lengths that we generally only see in majors, and heavy winds are expected to start the tournament.
