Valero Texas Open
Greetings, PGA DFS fans! It’s hard to believe that we are just ONE week away from The Masters down in Augusta! However,we still have four more days of golf to get through before we can start to smell the azaleas. The week prior to a big event brings us a relatively weak field down in San Antonio this week, but that doesn’t mean this event is meaningless. The AT&T Oaks Course at TPC San Antonio will be the host course in an event that is often impacted greatly by weather. Wind can be a big factor here at this time of the year, and this is one of the events where we often an edge in the draw. One of the biggest weather edges ever in DFS golf happened at this event three or four years ago. Be sure to monitor the forecast as we get closer to Thursday tee-off.
As for the course itself, this course is a LONG par 72 that features a lot of long par fours, a few longer par threes, and three par fives that measure over 590 yards on the scorecard. Distance off the tee is a nice benefit here, as long as you aren’t too wayward with the driver. Scrambling and bogey avoidance are also important, as this course has a lot of runoff areas that make saving par difficult if you can’t hold the green on approach. Again, my three key stats to target this week will be driving distance, scrambling, and bogey avoidance.
