Valspar Championship

Greetings, Grinders! We are back with another Florida swing event this week, but the Valspar Championship is going to be a big victim of this year’s scheduling changes. Since The PLAYERS was moved up to March and was contested last week, the field is extremely watered down for this event. Still, that doesn’t mean that we can’t have some DFS fun!

As for the golfers that are competing, this event will be played at the Copperhead Course at Innisbrook. This is a very difficult par 71 layout, but it does not fit the traditional par 71 mold with three par fives and four par threes. This course actually has four par fives and five par threes, which is not something you normally see. However, the par fives are no pushover, as they averaged about 4.7 in last year’s edition. There are no slam dunk easy holes around this place. As we see with most challenging courses, accuracy, ball striking, and approach play are of prime importance. Rostering players who are strong with their long irons is a primary objective. Golfers who can scramble and avoid bogeys also get a nice bump, as par is a fine score around this place. This will be the fourth time that this tournament has been played since Innisbrook was renovated a bit a few years ago, so I am also giving golfers that have played here since then a small boost. Experience is valuable in golf, especially on a difficult layout like this one.
