PGA DFS Core Plays: AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am
Top-ranked DFS player, Notorious, breaks down his favorite PGA DFS picks at various price ranges for this week’s tournament. Who should you be building lineups around? Find out below!
I’m coming off another great week of PGA DFS. The Farmers Insurance Open is always one of my favorite events during the year because it plays like a major. I ended up winning a few single-entry tournaments with my main lineup. I somehow managed to get all 6 of my golfers through the cut, and 3 of them finished T7 or better. The best part is that all 6 golfers were featured in last week’s Core Plays article. Based on the screenshots in Discord, it was a great week for a lot of the RG golf community.
PGA DFS Picks: DraftKings & FanDuel Core Plays for the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am
We now turn our attention to the first Signature Event of the season. The format of this has changed since becoming a Signature Event last year. It went from being a full-field event with 3 courses and a 54-hole cut to being a limited-field event with 2 courses and no cut. The amateurs will still play in the event but only on the first 2 days. The weekend will only be the professionals, which will certainly help when it comes to pace of play.
The 2 courses in play are Pebble Beach and Spyglass Hill. With no cut, each golfer will play Pebble Beach in 3 of the 4 rounds. It should play as the easier course, especially with little to no wind in the forecast. If you are playing Showdown slates for the first 2 rounds, I recommend stacking golfers playing Pebble Beach. Over the last 5 years, Spyglass Hill has been a much tougher test of golf. And hey, we have some good news. Shot Tracker will be available for both courses.

Since 3 of the 4 rounds will be played at Pebble Beach, let’s focus our attention on that course. It’s a Par 72 that measures less than 7,000 yards. It’s both a classical and a coastal course, as many holes are right up against the ocean. The fairways are fairly wide (35 yards on average), but this is not a bomber’s course. Many of the holes require forced lay-ups off the tee. The average driving distance here in 2024 was only 277 yards.
The greens at Pebble Beach are the smallest on TOUR (3,500 square feet) and feature poa annua grass, which is certainly an acquired taste for professional golfers. Historically, golfers who are good with wedges, have a sharp short game, and can putt on poa annua tend to dominate here. That doesn’t mean you don’t have to hit the ball well off the tee, but the driver isn’t as big of a weapon as it was at Torrey Pines last week.

Tournament and Course Notes for the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am
- We have another 2-course rotation this week, but Shot Tracker will be available for BOTH courses. Hallelujah!
- The format of this event changed last year. It had a 3-course rotation with a full field and a 54-hole cut
- Since becoming a Signature Event, it has a 2-course rotation, a limited field, and no cut
- The amateurs will only play for the first 2 rounds; then it’s only the professionals for the final 2 rounds
- We’ll focus our attention on Pebble Beach Golf Links, but Spyglass Hill is a difficult Par 72
- If you are playing Showdown the first 2 days, I recommend stacking those playing Pebble Beach
- Pebble Beach is a less-than-driver course with wide fairways and tiny greens
- This event often comes down to wedge play, around the green play, and putting
- No surprise that Jordan Spieth, Jason Day, and Patrick Cantlay have played so well here
- Both courses have poa annua greens if you want to use those putting splits

If you want to spend up on Scottie Scheffler, I certainly understand it. Personally, I’m worried about the layoff, the high price point, the high projected ownership, and the fact that he doesn’t play here often. For my main lineup, I will be starting with Morikawa. I can’t think of a better course for his skill set. He is accurate off the tee, is one of the best in the world on approach, and has made huge strides with his short game over the last 12 months. He’s finished T4 or better in 6 of his last 12 starts on TOUR and finished T14 in his debut here last year.
