PGA DFS Core Plays: Baycurrent Classic
Top-ranked DFS player, Notorious, breaks down his favorite PGA DFS picks at various price ranges on DraftKings and FanDuel for the Baycurrent Classic. Which golfers should you be building your lineups around? Find out below!
We are coming off a great week at the Bank of Utah Championship. All 7 golfers featured in this article made the cut and played well – Benjamin James, Ben Kohles, Jackson Suber, Kevin Yu, Rico Hoey, Zachary Bauchou, and Max McGreevy. We also talked about fading Jackson Koivun on the Drive for Show, DFS for Dough show. For whatever reason, the Bank of Utah Championship has treated me well over the years.
While I don’t love events with limited fields and no cut, at least we have some big names teeing it up at the Baycurrent Classic. The event will be held in Japan, and unfortunately, I don’t think we’ll have Shot Tracker. This is only the second edition of the event, and we don’t have any Shot Link data from last year’s event. With limited course data, it’s tough to narrow down a strong course fit.

Yokohama Country Club is going to feature holes from two of its different courses. This course combo will play as a Par 71 that measures 7,322 yards. The fairways are wide and undulating, and they are heavily surrounded by trees. The rough isn’t overly thick (3”), but it’s tough to hit the green if you aren’t playing from the fairway. For driving metrics this week, I like Strokes Gained: Off-the-Tee and Good Drive Percentage.
The greens at this course are average in size (6,500 square feet) and feature bentgrass. They should run around 11.5 on the Stimpmeter, which is on the slower side. The greens weren’t super easy to hit in regulation last year (65%), so focusing on approach play and around-the-green play isn’t a bad idea. The scoring last year was fairly easy, as Xander Schauffele won with a score of -19.
Rather than try to guess at a course fit, I’m focusing on tee-to-green play and recent form.

Morikawa had to miss some time due to a back injury, but he’s still had a very solid season. In 16 events, he has a win and 6 more top-10 finishes. He’s back to full strength now, and he’s finished in the top 20 in 5 of his last 6 events. His game seems to play well on all types of courses; his biggest strengths are hitting fairways and his iron play. Even better, he’s 7th in this field in Strokes Gained: Putting over the last 6 months. He finished T20 here last year and won the 2023 ZOZO Championship in Japan.
