PGA DFS Picks: DraftKings & FanDuel Core Plays for the Baycurrent Classic

We have a new tournament and a new course on tap this week. The debut of the Baycurrent Classic will be held at the Yokohama Country Club in Japan. Like most courses in Japan, this is a parkland course that features tree-lined fairways. We’ve never seen a PGA TOUR event held here, but there have been professional events held at this course in 2018 (-14), 2023 (-13), and 2024 (-17). This is speculation on my part, but I think the winning score will be at least 20-under par this week.

The layout of this course is very interesting. This is a par 71 on the scorecard, but it only features two par 5s and three par 3s. A typical par 71 has three par 5s and four par 3s. This means there are more par 4s on this course (13) than at any other PGA TOUR venue. There are a handful of long par 4s in play this week, but eight of them measure less than 440 yards. Focusing on Par-4 Scoring and/or proximity with wedges is a good starting point.

We don’t know exactly how this course is going to play. Without a strong course fit, we shouldn’t get too wrapped up in targeting a specific type of player. Rather than focusing on ball strikers, bombers, good putters, etc., I’m placing more of an emphasis on recent play and long-term form. This event doesn’t feature a cut, which means all 78 golfers are guaranteed to play all four rounds. Given the unknowns with the course, this could be a good week to pivot away from some of the chalk.

After winning two majors in 2024 and challenging to be the best golfer in the world, his results in 2025 have been disappointing. He was hurt to start the year and never really got into a groove. However, the last time we saw him, he smoked Jon Rahm in singles at the Ryder Cup. We often see members of these team events go on to win an event shortly after, and that’s exactly what happened with Robert MacIntyre last week at the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship. Schauffele is the most talented golfer in the field and boasts an elite track record in Japan. Don’t forget, he won the gold medal when the Olympics were held here in 2020. I’m all in on Xander this week.
