We didn’t have a long break between PGA TOUR events, but I hope everyone had a nice little reset after the TOUR Championship. We now turn our attention to the FedExCup Fall. It carries real weight for golfers who didn’t finish in the top 50 last season, as they can still lock in their 2026 PGA Tour status. Winners of these events get the same treatment as any other win during the year — a two-year exemption, 500 FedExCup points, and spots into some of the biggest events in 2027.

The fields during the fall aren’t the best, but they feature a lot of the PGA TOUR regulars that we’ve been playing for years, as well as the up-and-comers. This is a great time to really dive into the research, as most DFS players are focused more on football.

We have a new course and a new event on tap this week. The Biltmore Championship will be held at the Cliffs at Walnut Cove, which is in Asheville, North Carolina. This is quite different than most courses that we see in the Carolinas, as it is located in the Blue Ridge Mountains, which are 2,200 feet above sea level. The course was designed by Jack Nicklaus and has been seen on the Korn Ferry Tour (2005-2007) in an event that featured a 3-course rotation. This course was widely regarded as the most difficult of the three.

On paper, it is a Par 71 measuring 7,249 yards. This is fairly short by PGA TOUR standards, especially when you consider the adjustment for the elevation. The fairways are very generous (35-45 yards wide), but that doesn’t automatically mean this is a bomber’s course. The fairways narrow as you get closer to the hole, and missing them could be a huge penalty. The course superintendent said that they are growing the rough up to 6” this week.

I couldn’t find the exact square footage of the greens on this course, but they are large and undulating. This emphasizes approach play, as golfers will need to hit the right portions of the green to give themselves realistic birdie opportunities. The greens feature a mix of bentgrass and poa annua. Ultimately, we don’t know exactly how this course is going to play, but I’m looking for good total drivers, good iron players, and golfers who have been in solid form.

Brown is younger than most of the up-and-comers on the PGA TOUR. While he turned pro in 2024, he’s still only 19 years old. He played extremely well last season and posted with 2 top 10 finishes. Over the last 6 months, he’s 23rd in this field in Strokes Gained: Off-the-Tee and 1st in Strokes Gained: Approach. After playing in strong-field events most of the year, he should be able to make some noise in these weak-field events in the fall.
