PGA DFS Core Plays: Butterfield Bermuda Championship
Top-ranked DFS player, Notorious, breaks down his favorite PGA DFS picks at various salary ranges for this week’s tournament. Who should you be building around? Find out below.
There are only two more PGA Tour events left on the 2023 calendar. We have the Butterfield Bermuda Championship this week and then the RSM Classic next week. I used to hate the break in-between the fall swing and the start of the new year, but I’m starting to come around to the idea, especially with how bad some of these fields have been. And seriously, is it too much to ask for ShotTracker in every event? It would make weeks like this one so much better.
We head to Port Royal Golf Course in Bermuda this week. I’ve never been to the island, but I hear they have more golf courses per square mile than anywhere in the world. It sounds like a fantastic place to me. This course is a Par 71 that measures 6,828 yards. The length is extremely short by PGA Tour standards, especially given the fact that it’s a Par 71. The difficulty of the course generally depends on the wind, although it looks like there has been a lot of rain this year in Bermuda, which should lead to a soft course.

If you look at the past winners here, they are far from bombers off the tee. With the course being so short and with penalty hazards lurking, it’s really about keeping the ball in the fairway, hitting good wedge shots, and making putts. In fact, I would consider Lucas Herbert, Brendon Todd, and Brian Gay three of the best putters on tour in the respective years that they won this event. We could certainly see some ball strikers play well here, but you have to make putts in order to contend.
I don’t know if any of you watch a lot golf content on YouTube, but I’m excited to see the Bryan brothers compete against each other. Wesley Bryan has obviously been on tour for a long time and even won the RBC Heritage a few years ago, but George Bryan got a sponsor’s invite into the field as well. There aren’t a lot of storylines for the week, so I’m rooting for both of them to make the cut.
