PGA DFS Core Plays: Procore Championship
Top-ranked DFS player, Notorious, breaks down his favorite PGA DFS picks at various salary ranges for this week’s tournament. Who should you be building lineups around? Find out below!
I used to love that the offseason for golf was the shortest of any major DFS sport, but I wasn’t super excited to see an event on the schedule this week. Perhaps it’s because the fall tournaments don’t seem to have as much meaning as they used to, or perhaps it’s that I’m fully invested in the start of the NFL season. I’m sure I’ll change my tune once I’m able to sweat my golfers on Thursday morning.
Noto’s PGA Model Download & Video for the Procore Championship
The Procore Championship is a new name, but this is the same event that we’ve always had at Silverado Resort and Spa in Napa Valley. The course is a Par 72 that measures 7,123 yards. On a par-adjusted basis, this is certainly one of the shorter venues on the PGA TOUR. The fairways are narrow and difficult to hit, while the greens are small and difficult to hit. The greens feature a mix of bentgrass and poa annua, as we often see on the West Coast.
There hasn’t been a strong course fit, as we’ve seen a mix of winners here over the years. I will note that course history has been fairly predictive each year, so targeting golfers who have played well here and who have played well on the West Coast isn’t the worst idea. This is also a good time in the schedule to take a chance on some of the up-and-comers.

Event and Course Notes
- This is the first event of the fall season. There is a lot on the line in terms of starts at the bigger events in 2024
- This event used to be the Fortinet Championship but has a new sponsor (Procore) this year
- The fairways are extremely narrow and difficult to hit on average
- The greens are smaller than TOUR average and fairly difficult to hit
- There should still be good scoring, as the last 4 winners were each -17 or better
- We’ve seen a mix of winners here in the past; I don’t see a strong course fit

I only have one golfer tagged as a core play because this event feels wide open. Conners has not missed a cut in 22 starts this season and rates out as the top overall play in my model. He’s the top ball striker in the field and has recently flashed some upside with his short game. He’s gained strokes around the green in 4 of his last 7 starts and on the green in 3 of his last 7 starts. While that doesn’t seem like much, it’s huge for a ball striker as good as Conners. If he has another decent week with the short game, he should find himself in the mix on Sunday. He’s rattled off 3 top-10 finishes in his last 7 starts and has a decent track record at Silverado.
