PGA DFS Core Plays: RBC Heritage

Top-ranked DFS player, Notorious, breaks down his favorite PGA DFS picks at various price ranges on DraftKings and FanDuel for the RBC Heritage. Whom should you be building your lineups around? Find out below!
The last two Masters have been ones I will always remember. I didn’t have the best main slate (despite getting 6/6 in one of my two main lineups), but I finished 2nd in the $600 Round 4 Showdown GPP on DraftKings for $50,000. The missed par from Rory McIlroy on 18, combined with the par save from Cameron Young on the same hole, was a $35,000 swing in my favor. We tend to remember the bad breaks more than the good ones, but I will always remember this great break.
As for McIlroy, what a wild week. He carried a 6-shot lead heading into the weekend. His entire lead evaporated after Round 3, and he found himself 3 shots behind the lead early on Sunday. In typical Rory fashion, all it took was one birdie on the 7th hole to right the ship. From that point on, he was lights out. He became the fourth golfer in history to win back-to-back Masters and now has 6 major wins on his incredibly impressive résumé.

We typically have a letdown the week after a major, but that’s not the case this week. The RBC Heritage is a Signature Event, so most of the world’s best are set to tee it up at Harbour Town Golf Links. This is a Par 71 that measures 7,243 yards. It’s essentially the complete opposite of Augusta National. The fairways are narrow, the greens are tiny, and it’s not particularly difficult. The winning score has been between -17 and -19 in four of the last five years.
While golfers have been more aggressive off the tee at this event in recent years, this is still a less-than-driver course. The fairways are 25 yards wide on average, there are several doglegs, and the course isn’t overly long. This is a course where the shorter hitters can contend. With such small greens, there’s a major emphasis on approach play and scrambling. The list of recent winners here (Justin Thomas, Scottie Scheffler, Matt Fitzpatrick, Jordan Spieth) certainly highlights the importance of that skill set.

Henley was one of the few golfers I got right last week. With the course expected to play firm and fast, I thought it was a great spot to target him at low ownership. He finished T3 at the Masters and gained nearly 10 strokes on approach. This week’s course sets up even better for him, as he’s accurate off the tee, an elite iron player, and a wizard around the greens. He has 3 top-8 finishes in his last 7 events on TOUR and has finished T19 or better in 4 of his last 5 trips to Harbour Town.
