PGA DFS Core Plays: Sanderson Farms Championship
Top-ranked DFS player, Notorious, breaks down his favorite PGA DFS picks at various salary ranges for this week’s tournament. Who should you be building around? Find out below.
The Ryder Cup was full of storylines and full of drama. While it didn’t end up being very close, it was a tremendous weekend of golf. Personally, I’m excited to be back on a regular sleep schedule. We are back to the basics this week, as the PGA Tour heads to Mississippi for the Sanderson Farms Championship. The field is not good, but at least there are a lot of names that we recognize. The event will be held at the Country Club of Jackson, which is a Par 72 that measures 7,461 yards.
While this course is fairly long, it is not overly difficult. There are four par fives on the course and this has been outside of the top 20 in difficulty each of the last five years. The fairways are narrow (29 yards), but there’s not a big penalty for missing them. Based on past winners and the data that we’ve acquired at this venue, this is certainly a spot where driving distance is a big positive. I’m using a combination of strokes gained off the tee and driving distance for my off the tee metrics this week.

The greens here are average in size (6,200 square feet) and fairly easy to hit. They feature bermudagrass if you want to look into putting splits by surface. If golfers do miss the green, scrambling hasn’t been overly difficult at this venue over the years. Outside of being a good driver of the ball, I’m looking for golfers that make a lot of birdies, golfers that excel on Par 70 courses, golfers that are good on approach (always), and golfers that showed some form toward the end of last season (on the PGA Tour or the Korn Ferry Tour).
The introduction is short and sweet, but the week is fairly straightforward. Let’s get into the DFS plays and the bets.
