PGA DFS Core Plays: Sanderson Farms Championship
Top-ranked DFS player, Notorious, breaks down his favorite PGA DFS picks at various salary ranges for this week’s tournament. Who should you be building lineups around? Find out below!
The Presidents Cup wasn’t all that close on the weekend, but it was still an incredible watch. I’ve said it a million times — the PGA TOUR needs to bring back match play in some aspect. Whether it’s the 64-man match play event that we used to have in Austin or a revamped version, we need it in our lives. We don’t see that type of fire from professional golfers very often. After a very short break, we are back this week with another stroke play event in Mississippi.
The Sanderson Farms Championship features a weak field and will be competing with the NFL on Sunday afternoon. This is one of those events where the DFS crowd will be lazy and build lineups based on their favorite model in the industry. I get the feeling this is a great week to put in the extra effort when it comes to research. As far as the course goes, the Country Club of Jackson is a par 72 that measures 7,461 yards.

Despite the length of the course, this should be another birdie fest. The winning score has been at least -18 in each of the last five editions, and this was the 4th easiest course on TOUR last season. With four par 5s on the course and very little penalty for missing fairways, this is a course where driving distance can be a major advantage. However, we have seen quite a mix of winners here over the years. I’m focusing most of my attention on birdie makers and recent form this week.

We don’t have a clear favorite this week. In fact, there isn’t a golfer in the field with outright odds under +2500. This event is wide open. My favorite spend in all formats is Spaun, who has clearly found something in his game. After failing to record a top-25 finish in his first 14 starts of the year, he has rattled off 7 straight made cuts with 3 top-10 finishes since. During that 7-event stretch, he has gained over 22 strokes on approach and has been positive in all four of the Strokes Gained categories. He has some of the best form in the field and is very familiar with this course.
