If you are tired of the golf grind, you’ll be happy to know that this is the last event before the FedExCup Playoffs. If you are a golf sicko like myself, you are probably sad that the end of the season is upon us. The good news is that golf is year-round and that there will be events to sweat even after the Tour Championship. The bad news is that this will be the last full-field event for a while.

There are 145 golfers set to tee it up this week at Sedgefield Country Club. This course has hosted the Wyndham Championship for a long time, so we have plenty of data when it comes to knowing what type of golfer performs well here. We don’t have any of the true elites in the field this week, which means the pricing feels a little soft on both DraftKings and FanDuel.

Editor’s Note: For more tournament notes, recent form, and course notes for the Wyndham Championship, check out this week’s PGA DFS First Look.

Let’s dive into the course. Sedgefield Country Club is a Par 70 that measures 7,131 yards. Each of the last 4 winners of this event has scored at least 18-under par. It’s not an overly challenging golf course, but you can certainly run into some big numbers if you stray too far offline. The fairways are only 28 yards wide and are tree-lined. With a lot of shorter holes, golfers only hit driver on 57% of non-Par 3 tee shots here last year, which is well below the TOUR average. This is one of the few courses where accuracy trumps distance off the tee.

The greens at Sedgefield are average in size (6,000 square feet) and feature pure bermudagrass. They will run at 12.5 on the stimpmeter, which is certainly on the faster side of things when it comes to professional golf. The greens are fairly easy to hit in regulation, but missing them will cause challenges. The scrambling success rate here last year was only 55%, which is well below the TOUR average. There are a lot of wedges and very few long iron approach shots on this course.

The name of the game for me this week is finding golfers who hit fairways, who are solid on approach, and who can putt well on bermuda greens.

Rai enters the week fresh off of back-to-back missed cuts, yet he’s still one of my favorite plays on the board. There are very few who statistically are a better fit for Sedgefield. He’s accurate off the tee, an elite iron player, and an improving putter. He picked up his first PGA TOUR win here in 2024 and followed it up with a 5th place finish here last year. After running away with the PGA Championship a few months ago, he will have a ton of confidence the next time he finds himself in contention. He’s 3rd overall in my model this week, yet he’s only $8,800 on DraftKings and $10,700 on FanDuel.
