We had another exciting finish last week at the RBC Heritage. Scottie Scheffler made a strong push on the back 9 to force a playoff with Matt Fitzpatrick. However, Fitzy hit a tremendous approach shot on the first playoff hole and was able to sink his birdie putt to win the RBC Heritage for the second time in his career.

I received a few messages from RG members who had real sweats heading into the final round. I thought I had a decent chance at winning the $888 GPP on DraftKings, but Sepp Straka and Brian Harman had other plans. They started the day in a tie for 3rd, yet they combined to shoot +12 on Sunday. Not ideal.

Let’s dust ourselves off and turn our attention to the Zurich Classic.

After what feels like months of huge events, we have a quieter event on tap this week in New Orleans. The Zurich Classic is the lone team event on the PGA TOUR. There are 72 duos set to tee it up at TPC Louisiana, which is a Par 72 that measures just over 7,400 yards. The fairways are narrow, and the greens are small, but the course isn’t overly difficult. We’ve seen the winning team shoot at least 25-under par in each of the last 4 years.

I like the format of the event, as the tournament alternates between four-ball (best ball) and foursomes (alternate shot) over the course of the four rounds. Teams will need to go low in the four-ball rounds and try to hold on for dear life in the foursomes rounds. There’s a lot of variance at this event, especially round to round. In other words, don’t count your winnings after the four-ball rounds, as a lot will change in the two foursomes rounds.

The key to this event is making birdies and avoiding bogeys. This is a Pete Dye course, which neutralizes the driver off the tee. Thanks to that, all types of golfers can contend here. I’m looking for good total drivers of the ball, good iron players, and good putters. Above all else, I’m looking for golfers who make a ton of birdies. It certainly doesn’t hurt to have some sort of chemistry between teammates, but that’s certainly not a must when narrowing down your player pool.

Top PGA DFS Picks on DraftKings for the Zurich Classic

Core Plays

Matt Fitzpatrick / Alex Fitzpatrick
Noto Rating: 1
DraftKings: $10,500 / pOWN%: 30%

Fitzpatrick of the PGA

It’s already a great story that these brothers are teaming up for the Zurich Classic. I’ve been hesitant to target them at this event in the past because it’s usually a one-sided team. However, Alex has been holding his own on the DP World Tour this year. His statistics are all solid, and more importantly, he’s coming off a win at the Hero Indian Open. Matt is also coming off a win at the RBC Heritage. This team has better form than any other in the field, and they should have better chemistry than any other team. They also have a ton of motivation, as Matt could help his brother earn his PGA TOUR card.
