PGA DFS Tournament Preview, Strategy, & Picks: Grant Thornton Invitational
Welcome back, golf fans! We thought that this week would be the start of the December break for PGA DFS, but DraftKings has given us all an early holiday gift by posting some large GPP contests for the first Grant Thornton Invitational. As such, we’re going to bring you a general strategy article for the week!
PGA DFS Tournament Preview, Strategy, & Picks: Grant Thornton Invitational
Tournament Preview and Strategy
This tournament represents the first co-branded event between the PGA Tour and the LPGA Tour in almost 25 years. John Daly (yes, that John Daly) won the last co-branded event along with Laura Davies back in 1999. Some of you reading this might not have even been born then, and that’s making me feel pretty #old at the moment!
Here is how this tournament will work:
1) There are 16 pairs involved in the tournament, each consisting of one PGA Tour player and one LPGA Tour player.
2) The tournament will be 3 rounds in length, with each round being a different format.
3) Round 1 will be played as a pure scramble (best shot is played for each team every time). Round 2 will be played as foursomes (alternate shot). Round 3 will be played as a modified four-ball (each player plays their own ball, and the best score for the team is taken – but the players alternate balls after the tee shots and play that ball until the hole is finished).
4) DraftKings is listing both players from each pair as an option to choose, but you cannot have more than one player from each pair on any single lineup.
