What is your preferred tournament format (e.g. large-field, single-entry) to play on this slate? How do you plan to beat that field of opponents? What tactic or strategy will set you apart?
Notorious: I’m only planning on building 2 tournament lineups this week. I am going to enter them in small-field and mid-field tournaments. I’m going to take my chances with a fade of the $10,000 range in both of my lineups, which means I won’t have any exposure to Jackson Koivun, Jacob Bridgeman, or Doug Ghim. All three are expected to be popular, so I will naturally have a different roster construction than most.
stlcardinals84: I will be playing around 20-25 entries in the large-field contests. I love this time of year because we have weaker fields, unknown names, and more casual DFS players putting more focus on football. That gives the true golf grinders an edge. I will be overweight on several young players like Benjamin James, Jackson Koivun, and Blades Brown (among others).
Jbails26: With how weak this field is, it puts a lot more golfers in play for me, so I don’t know if I’ll take any huge stands in my small-field tournaments. To account for this, setting the Results Range to “High” in SimLabs is one of my preferred routes because it helps account for a wider range of outcomes. This should plug in some golfers whom the field may not be considering and maybe even put some golfers on my radar I hadn’t previously considered.
hondizzle: My preferred format is 150-max large-field tournaments. I want the ability to embrace volatility and take more chances than I would in single-entry contests. My goal isn’t to build 150 safe lineups; it’s to gain an edge by being early on talented younger players with unproven games, buying back into good players after disappointing seasons or stretches, and mixing in high-upside plays that the field may be uncomfortable using. Weeks with uncertainty are especially appealing because I’m willing to accept more risk when everyone else is searching for safety. I don’t want to be different just for the sake of being different, but I do want calculated exposure to players who can dramatically outperform their ownership and salary. In 150-max, I’d rather take smart chances and be early than build 150 versions of what everyone else already sees.
