PGA DFS Picks: DraftKings & FanDuel Expert Survey for the Memorial Tournament
Who is your top contrarian golfer (when considering price, key stats, projected ownership, etc.) on the board and why?
Notorious: Alex Noren – After being the chalk that busted last week, his ownership will naturally be lower this week. We also have a stronger field, and this is a course where he hasn’t had a ton of success at in the past. At the moment, we have Noren projected for single-digit ownership. I’m willing to overlook one bad week, especially since he rattled off 8 straight top-30 finishes before last week. He’s been gaining in all facets of his game, which is exactly what you need at Muirfield Village.
stlcardinals84: Jake Knapp – He may not have the most experience in these types of events, but I still think Knapp has more upside than almost every other rookie on the PGA TOUR right now. He ranks 19th in this field in ball striking over the past 36 rounds, and his length off the tee is going to serve him well on a long, difficult courses like Muirfield Village. His results have been hit or miss of late, but we now have him as one of the most affordable golfers in the field and sitting at about 5% projected ownership. I’ll gladly take a shot on the talent with the strong course fit.
hondizzle: Viktor Hovland – The defending champion is always a tough sell for me, but I really like Hovland this week. News broke during the PGA Championship that Hovland and swing coach Joe Mayo started to work together again prior to the event. Hovland found some magic in his swing and almost won the PGA. I like the discount in interest on Hovland and will be happy to be over the field in terms of ownership this week. Hovland has as much upside as anyone in this field.
ezellmt: Keegan Bradley – A nightmare performance with the putter is always in play with Bradley, but he hasn’t shown signs of it in several months. And he’s coming to a place where he’s putted really well in recent years, including last season where he gained 1.48 strokes per round on the greens. His approach and off-the-tee numbers have been stellar lately, and if he manages to combine it all for one week, a top 5 is well within reach for Bradley.
