PGA DFS Picks: DraftKings & FanDuel Expert Survey for the Procore Championship
Who is your favorite golfer for cash games?
Notorious: Corey Conners
stlcardinals84: Corey Conners
JBails26: Corey Conners
hondizzle: Corey Conners
Who is your favorite contrarian golfer (when considering price, key stats, projected ownership, etc.) on the board and why?
Notorious: Patrick Rodgers – Based on what I’ve seen from my model, the RotoGrinders model, and a couple other models around the industry, Rodgers is not going to pop for DFS players who use projections and optimizers. He does have a cult following (which I am a part of), but I’m hoping he will still garner less than 10% ownership. He moved to California at a young age and played his college golf at Stanford. He’s very comfortable putting on greens with poa annua grass and has an excellent track record in California. He has quietly finished in the top 40 in 6 straight events and has made the cut at Silverado in 5 of his last 6 appearances.
stlcardinals84: Rico Hoey – Early ownership projections have Hoey coming in at single digit ownership this week, and I like him as a GPP value option. He has now made the cut in each of his last 6 stroke play starts, and he has showcased some upside as well, with a trio of top 10 finishes in that span. If we isolate the last 24 rounds, he ranks inside the top 12 in this field in total strokes gained and ball striking, and yet he’s priced well below that. Given his recent form, his potential upside, and the weak field, I love the potential.

JBails26: JJ Spaun – Spaun is projecting as a solid value but not a lock button value, which should keep his ownership in check. Our early run of pOWN% currently has him around 15%, which I can get on board with. Spaun’s irons have been great over his last 50 rounds, ranking 5th over his last 50 rounds. He also ranks 12th in Birdie or Better % and 8th in Bogey Avoidance over the same time frame.
hondizzle: Eric Cole – I really think the fall FedExCup is a great time to go against the grain a bit more than during the normal season. I like the idea of targeting golfers who have struggled overall but are starting to trend in the right direction. With a slew of early season missed cuts, Eric Cole quickly found himself in a big slump. The good news for Cole is that it only takes a few good weeks to turn a season around. Since June, Cole has only missed a single cut in 11 starts. With 3 top 7 or better showings during the later part of the season, I like the upside Cole brings this week.
