PGA DFS Picks: DraftKings & FanDuel Expert Survey for the Shriners Children’s Open
Who is your favorite golfer for cash games?
Notorious: Seamus Power
stlcardinals84: Taylor Pendrith
JBails26: Tom Kim
hondizzle: Tom Kim
Who is your favorite contrarian golfer (when considering price, key stats, projected ownership, etc.) on the board and why?
Notorious: Doug Ghim – We’ll see if this holds, but his current pOWN% is less than 10% on both DraftKings and FanDuel. He hasn’t shown a ton of upside this season, but he’s made 5 straight cuts and has finished in the top 25% of fields he has entered 43% of the time this year (which is one of the highest marks in the field). He’s top 20 in this field in Strokes Gained: Off-the-Tee and top 3 in Strokes Gained: Approach. His ball striking alone should be able to carry him to a made cut. If he can have even a decent week on and around the greens, I like his chances of finishing in the top 10.
stlcardinals84: Henrik Norlander – If the masses are going to keep ignoring him, I’m going to keep playing him. Norlander has been in very strong form of late, and he has made 7 of his last 8 cuts. Three of those have resulted in top-15 finishes, including a T8 at last week’s Black Desert Championship. His DFS salaries continue to be in the value range for reasons that don’t make sense to me, but I’m not complaining! Continue to ride the hot play and single-digit ownership to the cash window.

JBails26: Andrew Novak – Novak was one of my favorite plays last week, and he had a woeful outing. However, he still gained strokes on approach and off the tee. He struggled around the greens and with his putter – where he combined to lose over 1.5 strokes to the field. Novak was mega chalk last week at $8,100 on DraftKings, and now his price has dropped to $7,200 and is coming in at around 8% pOWN%. I’ll take my chances on him, considering how good his form was coming into last week. Novak ranks 21st in my mixed condition model on the Rabbit Hole from Betsperts Golf, including 24th in Strokes Gained: Approach and 14th in Birdie or Better % over his last 50 rounds. Those aren’t bad numbers for someone priced as the 40th-most-expensive golfer on DraftKings.
hondizzle: Adam Hadwin – In his last 5 starts at this event, Hadwin has gained 43 strokes tee to green. Hadwin has three of those five finishes inside the top 6. Despite that kind of course history, Hadwin is trending towards sub-10 % pOWN. I am not typically a fan of Hadwin’s game, as I often struggle to pick him on the right weeks. This week, however, I will lean on a strong course history, especially if he is under-owned.
