Who is your favorite golfer (when considering price, key stats, projected ownership, etc.) on the board and why?

Notorious: Xander Schauffele – I personally prefer Xander over both Scheffler and McIlroy. He’s first in my model, he’s cheaper than the other two, and I don’t have as many questions about the state of his game. He has 10 straight top 20s on the PGA TOUR, he’s top 20 in all four of the Strokes Gained categories over the last 12 months, and he’s shown an ability to play well on links courses. He nearly won the Open Championship in 2018 (and has never missed the cut in the event) and won the Scottish Open in 2022. Starting with Schauffele really helps solidify the bottom of your builds, which could be very important.

stlcardinals84: Xander Schauffele – He brings such a great blend of safety and upside to the board right now that it’s difficult to find any reason not to play him. He hasn’t finished outside the top 25 in any event in 5 months. He’s made almost 50 cuts in a row. He hasn’t missed a cut in six Open Championship appearances. Only one of those has resulted in a finish worse than 30th place. He finally won a major this year and is playing with extreme confidence. When you factor in salaries, I like him better than the other top-tier options.

JBails26: Aaron Rai – I keep putting Rai here, and he’s finished T4, T7, and T2 in his last three tournaments. So why stop now? He doesn’t have a ton of experience in Open Championships, but he pops in my mixed condition model (4th overall). More specifically, he ranks 10th or better in SG: Approach, SG: Total, Scrambling, Bogey Avoidance, and Good Drive % over his last 50 rounds.

hondizzle: Xander Schauffele – Playing in his first major championship as a major winner should be a wonderful feeling for Xander Schauffele. I like a lot of the guys at the top, but I think Schauffele offers the strongest combo of floor and ceiling. Unlike some major champion winners, I think winning the PGA championship will only increase his desire for more major wins.
