PGA DFS Picks: DraftKings & FanDuel Expert Survey for the U.S. Open

Who is your favorite golfer to spend up for in cash games?

Notorious: Scottie Scheffler
stlcardinals84: Matthew Fitzpatrick
Jbails26: Xander Schauffele
hondizzle: Xander Schauffele

Who is your favorite golfer (when considering price, key stats, roster construction, etc.) on the board and why?

Notorious: Scottie Scheffler – I typically like to roll out a balanced build at these star-studded events, but I find it very easy to roster Scheffler, even at his elevated price point. There are a lot of golfers who feel mispriced in the $6,500–$7,500 range. Shinnecock Hills rewards precision. That includes off the tee, on approach, around the green, and putting. There’s not a better all-around golfer than Scheffler, who has gone way too long between wins. Since his last win at The American Express, he’s had 3 runner-up finishes and 3 more top-4 finishes. He’s been inching closer and closer to another win. On a course that should fit his game perfectly, I’m biting the bullet and paying all the way up for Scheff this week.

stlcardinals84: Matthew Fitzpatrick – I love Fitzpatrick in all formats this week. It seems like the ownership might be spread out to some degree in his salary range, but Fitzpatrick will be a priority for me in many builds. He hasn’t missed a cut in calendar year 2026, and his added distance off the tee over the past few years makes him more dangerous than he used to be in a U.S. Open setup. He already has 3 wins and 2 runner-up finishes this year, and he finished T12 at the 2018 U.S. Open that was played on this same course. His game is light years better now than it was then, and Fitzpatrick is a real threat to take home a major come Sunday evening.

Jbails26: Matthew Fitzpatrick – A 12.5%-owned Fitzpatrick helped me win a tournament for $20,000 last week, but I don’t think we’ll get nearly that low of ownership on him this week.

He’s likely going to be one of the highest-owned golfers on the slate, but that won’t deter me from rostering him because, even though he’ll be highly owned, there are still smart ways to build around him. He has the 10th-highest price on DraftKings, but over his last 50 rounds, he ranks 5th in Data Golf’s True Total Strokes Gained, along with 3rd in Strokes Gained: Around-the-Green and 4th in Strokes Gained: Approach. The course is going to be incredibly difficult, but Fitzpatrick has the skill set to do well in U.S. Open conditions.

hondizzle: Xander Schauffele – This week feels like a spot where major championship experience matters, and Schauffele is one of the most proven performers in the field. Few players have shown the consistency he has on golf’s biggest stages, recording 16 finishes of T20 or better in his last 17 major championship starts. That remarkable run includes 7 top-10 finishes and 2 major victories. With a proven ability to handle difficult setups, elite competition, and the pressure that comes with contending on Sunday, Schauffele enters the week as one of the most reliable high-end options on the board.

What’s one rule/setting that you’re going to use in our PGA DFS optimizer (LineupHQ) or PGA DFS sims tool (SimLabs)?
