PGA DFS Round 4 Showdown Picks: DraftKings Expert Survey for the PGA Championship

Who is your favorite golfer for cash games?

Notorious: Ludvig Aberg
stlcardinals84: Xander Schauffele
Jbails26: Ludvig Aberg
hondizzle: Xander Schauffele

Who is your top overall golfer (when considering price, key stats, projected ownership, etc.) on the board and why?

Notorious: Ludvig Aberg – Aberg was my pick to win at the start of the week, so I can’t back off that take now. After a mediocre Thursday, he has put together two solid rounds in a row to vault himself up the leaderboard. He is built for major championship golf. He’s long and straight off the tee, he’s an elite iron player, and his short game continues to get better. He currently leads the field in both ball striking and Strokes Gained: Tee-to-Green.

stlcardinals84: Jon Rahm – Rahm was my favorite GPP target for the full week contests, and I have to stick by that with Rahm sitting just 2 shots off the lead. His experience should come in handy in a loaded leaderboard, and Rahm ranks 2nd in tee-to-green play for the week. If the putter warms up, I wouldn’t be surprised to see him hoisting a major trophy come Sunday afternoon.

Jbails26: Ludvig Aberg – Aberg came into the tournament as one of my favorite main slate plays, so it seems time to re-up on that. Aberg could be in a much better position right now if his putter showed any signs of life. He’s currently 72nd in Data Golf’s True Strokes Gained: Putting, but he’s 5th in approach and leading the field from tee-to-green over 3 rounds. If his usual tee-to-green play stays intact and his putts start to drop, his first major win is easily within reach.

hondizzle: Xander Schauffele – Sunday at the PGA is shaping up to be a potentially drama-filled afternoon. Alex Smalley’s 2-shot lead may not hold, which could create a scenario where 30 golfers are within 3 shots of the lead if he starts to slip. For me, Xander has the major championship track record and the patience to understand what it takes to win this tournament. This could come down to simply giving oneself a chance with 6 holes to go, and Xander is exactly the type of player I trust in that spot.

He remarked to his wife that if he could have a second life, he’d like to be someone who enjoyed watching sports. That enjoyment began when he signed up for a fantasy football league that needed one more player. Since then, he has enjoyed playing NFL, NBA, and (especially) MLB DFS. When not teaching American literature, editing content for RotoGrinders (which he has done since 2019), or making lineups, Epignosis is rocking out or jazzing it up on one of several possible instruments.
