Who is your favorite golfer to spend up for in cash games?

Who is your favorite U.S. golfer (when considering price, key stats, projected ownership, etc.) on the board and why?
Notorious: Collin Morikawa – A back injury derailed what could have been Morikawa’s best season in a very long time. He still picked up a win and played solid down the stretch, posting top-20 finishes in 5 of his last 6 events. While he’s typically not a golfer that you expect to play all 5 matches (4 would be best-case scenario), I expect him to play well in his matches. He’s extremely tough in match play and team competitions because he hits fairways and is an elite iron player. His record in the Ryder Cup and Presidents Cup is a combined 17-6-2, which is easily one of the best marks of any golfer teeing it up this week.
stlcardinals84: Sam Burns – His elite short game will absolutely come in handy in this format. Burns is 3-3-3 overall in his previous Presidents Cup experience, but he is a much better golfer these days and is coming off a 2026 season where he logged 6 top-10 finishes on the PGA TOUR. His playing style suits Medinah well, and I don’t think he will carry as much ownership as some of the other household U.S. names. If you wanted to go a little more contrarian, I don’t think Chris Gotterup is a crazy choice, especially if he gets the nod in a 1st-round match.
Jbails26: Sam Burns – He’s an excellent option at his price, and he might be playing some of the best golf of his career. Over his last 50 rounds, he ranks 3rd, 6th, and 2nd in Data Golf’s True Total Strokes Gained, Strokes Gained: Approach, and Strokes Gained: Putting. If his irons and putter remain hot, he could be one of the best plays on the slate. He struggled in 2022, but that was 4 years ago, and he’s a much better golfer now. In 2024 he went 3-0-1 in his matches. It seems like he should get 5 matches this year.
hondizzle: Sam Burns – Burns is my favorite DFS play for the Presidents Cup. He comes in with solid form, an excellent short game, and the versatility to fit into a variety of pairings. I don’t see him as a liability in any format, which gives him a clear path to play a ton of golf and rack up fantasy points throughout the week. I think he has a strong chance to play all 5 matches, and that kind of volume is exactly what I’m looking for. His ability to contribute in both team sessions and singles play gives him a high ceiling, and I’m more than comfortable building my lineups around him.
