PGA DFS Round 4 Showdown Picks: DraftKings Expert Survey for The Open Championship

Who is your top contrarian golfer (when considering price, key stats, projected ownership, etc.) on the board and why?

Notorious: Si Woo Kim – In Round 4 Showdown contests, golfers outside of the top 25 rarely garner much ownership. Despite being 7th in ball striking this week, Kim currently sits in a tie for 40th. He has already lost 5 strokes around the green. This would be a concern for someone with a bad short game, but Kim has gained strokes around the green in 17 of his last 21 events. It is usually one of his biggest strengths. I think we could see some positive regression on Sunday. If the ball striking continues, I could see him shooting one of the best rounds of the day.

stlcardinals84: Alex Noren – He likely won’t get a ton of attention given that he sits just outside the top 15, and DFS players will target other values higher up the leaderboard. Still, he is capable of having breakout rounds in tough conditions, and it wouldn’t take a huge Sunday push to get him inside the top 10 for placing purposes.

Jbails26: Dustin Johnson – I can’t imagine DJ garnering too much ownership in Round 4 since he’s starting the day at T15. In that price range, DFS players will likely be gravitating more towards Sam Burns, who is starting the day at T3 and costs $300 less on DraftKings. DJ has gained over a stroke on approach over the course of the tournament, so I’ll just hope his irons show up in Round 4 and he soaks up some placing points when this tournament wraps up.

hondizzle: Max Homa- I liked Homa to start the week and see a chance that he could salvage a disappointing week with a strong finish. That putt he made to make the cut on Friday was a big deal to Max. He should be low owned, and I like the fact he will be out earlier in the day. The salary is still low relative to his talent level. I love the upside of this type of play. At his salary, a mediocre round does not kill your chances. Max has enough talent to be the low round on day four.
