Who is your top contrarian golfer (when considering price, key stats, projected ownership, etc.) on the board and why?

Notorious: Jon Rahm & Xander Schauffele – Given the pricing of this slate, most lineups will start with Scottie Scheffler. Most of the ones that don’t will start with Rory McIlroy. This is going to lead to extremely low ownership on both Rahm and Schauffele, who have each won 2 majors in their careers. Given their talent level, either golfer could end up with the low round of the day on Sunday. They make for tremendous tournament targets.

stlcardinals84: Bryson DeChambeau – I love using a second expensive golfer who is a little further down the leaderboard. These players often get ignored in Sunday showdowns, and DeChambeau won’t be super popular. He has rebounded from a terrible first round with a pair of strong days in a row, and we know he has the ability to go low. He’ll be super aggressive and is an interesting risk/reward spend.

Jbails26: Jon Rahm – At $10,200 I like Rahm as a contrarian piece since he is priced near guys further up on the leaderboard, making him likely to be overlooked by most of the field. Placing bonuses help in Round 4, but you can still make up for that with birdies, and Rahm certainly has that potential. For the first three rounds of the tournament, Rahm ranks 10th in the field in Strokes Gained: Approach, but his game has struggled elsewhere. If he can gain strokes throughout the bag and get his game clicking, he could be a strong contrarian option in large-field MME builds.
