PGA DFS Picks: DraftKings & FanDuel Expert Survey for the Fortinet Championship
Which useful trend or statistic stuck out most during your research?
Notorious: While hitting the ball long and straight is an advantage on all courses, the driver hasn’t been the supreme weapon at this course over the years. Last season, the average driving distance was 289 yards and the average driving accuracy was 46%. Those are both well below tour average. For the most part, I’m looking at iron play, around the green, and putting on bent/poa greens.
STLCardinals84: With this being the only PGA Tour event in the month of September thanks to the Ryder Cup, we have a lot of top golfers that have simply decided to take the month off (or are playing in the Ryder Cup). It’s a bit strange to see Justin Thomas and Max Homa in the field prior to the Ryder Cup, but they may be looking to shake off some rust. Given the weak nature of the field, don’t be afraid to expect the unexpected and go with some lower-owned plays. I will be putting greater emphasis than usual on approach play on this course with some birdie making sprinkled in.
hondizzle: The excitement of having PGA Tour golf back quickly turned to disappointment as I began to look at the quality of this week’s field. With that being said, there is an edge in playing the wrap around season if you are willing to put in the work. The start of the season always represents a chance to improve on the play from a previous season. Most players in this week’s field will have not played a competitive round in over a month. This leaves plenty of time to work on any changes needed to get ready for the new year. Outside of a few big names in this event, I think the talent level is pretty much the same. What I mean by this is that someone who has a price tag of $8,600 may not exactly be worth $1,400 more in salary than a $7,200 golfer. Prices are determined by some recent play and / or the need to fill pricing gaps. Generally speaking, I think most gamers will have a hard time finding comfort in some of the cheap golfers for this week’s event. If you are a MME player, I think this is a great week to really attack this lower price range. If you feel like the win equity only comes from a small group at the top, then you can easily fit in a few of these golfers with a nice mix of punt options at the bottom of the pricing range.
