Welcome back, golf grinders! There’s always a bit of a letdown factor at play the week after a major tournament, and we have a weak field event gathered for the 3M Open in Minneapolis this week. While the event may not have the general excitement of a major, there is still plenty of money to be won in the DFS GPP streets. I actually like the event this week, as the back nine of this course leads to some potential fun-filled holes come Sunday afternoon.

Tool Highlights

As we have seen quite often over the past few months, another shootout should be in store in Minnesota. The winning score generally comes in around 18 to 20 under par for this event, while Lee Hodges breezed to victory with a 25 under par score a year ago. For the sixth straight year, TPC Twin Cities is the host course. It sets up as a moderate length par 71 with three par fives in play. There is water in play on 15 holes around the property, but there is room for the professionals to miss off the tee. The water is really the only hazard that the course offers, but it does bring double bogeys into play. A four shot swing could very easily happen in one hole around here, as an eagle or a double bogey could be made on a par five. As usual, ball striking and approach play will be the name of the game, and whoever can grab a hot putter will rise to the top of the leaderboard. I will target golfers with strong birdie or better percentages as well. I do think you can make a case for the bomber angle too, as we have seen long hitters play well here in the past.

Let’s get to some of my favorite GPP picks for the week!

PGA DFS Picks: DraftKings & FanDuel GPP Breakdown for the 3M Open

FanDuel: $12,000
Yahoo: $42

This is a very weak field for the event following a major championship, and Finau isn’t outrageously expensive for being the betting favorite. I am going to prioritize him in many of my builds. He leads the field in total strokes gained and ranks 3rd in approach play over the last 24 rounds. He has played in this event in each of the last five years, finishing inside the top 30 every time. That includes a win in 2022 followed by a T7 last year, and he has gained close to 50 strokes over field average in those five starts. I see no reason to prioritize anyone else over him, and he is my favorite spend up option by a wide margin.
