PGA DFS GPP Breakdown: AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am

Hello, PGA Grinders! With the NFL season down to just one big game left, more eyes will turn to the golf world as we move forward. We have large prize pools to target this week, and the contests could be a little softer than normal with NFL players utilizing the funds they won from Conference Championship week. As for the golf tournament, we have the second of the annual Pro-Am events at the legendary Pebble Beach Golf Links on the agenda this week.
Like the American Express event a couple weeks ago and Torrey Pines last week, we have a course rotation in the mix once again. Pebble Beach will be the host course, while each golfer will also play a round on Spyglass Hill over the first two days. That is a change from previous years, where three courses were used for this event. Pebble Beach will host the final two rounds for all the golfers. The change came about because this is now a more limited field, “elevated event” as of 2024, so we have a much stronger field in play.

It’s worth noting that Pebble Beach is a course that is very susceptible to the wind, so we will need to keep a close eye on the weather forecast. Spyglass Hill is more tree-lined and is less susceptible to the wind. For full week contests, if the wind looks to be worse on one of the first two days, you’ll want to prioritize golfers that play Spyglass Hill on the windier day. For Showdown contests, we might even see an edge for specific tee times over the course of a day, especially on the final day where wind is expected to be a factor.
Neither of these courses is particularly long, so we don’t need to prioritize distance at this event. The key will be a combination of strong approach play and comfort on poa annua green surfaces, which can get bumpy and challenging. I will be looking almost exclusively at ball striking, approach play, and short game this week. We see strong short iron and wedge players succeed here almost every year, and scrambling is also key. Pebble Beach has some of the smallest greens in the world, and now that three of the four rounds are being played there, scrambling takes on more importance.

PGA DFS Picks: DraftKings & FanDuel GPP Breakdown for the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am
Collin Morikawa
DraftKings: $10,200
FanDuel: $11,800
This is a great course fit for Morikawa, and many will consider him a top favorite at Pebble Beach, especially now that three rounds will be played on the host course. He posted a solid T14 finish in his debut a year ago, and he should be poised to improve upon it this time around. He ranks third in this field around the green and in total strokes gained over the last 36 rounds, and we know he can dial it in with the irons. I will definitely be overweight compared to the field.
