PGA DFS GPP Breakdown: Black Desert Championship
Long-time grinder, stlcardinals84, breaks down his top PGA DFS picks in various price ranges for this week’s tournament. Which golfers should you be targeting to try and take down the big DFS tournaments? Find out below!
Welcome to another week of DFS golf! We have a new event on tap this week with the Black Desert Championship out in Utah. This should be a unique event with a different type of course in play. However, we unfortunately have another pretty weak field, so we might have another week with a bit of unpredictability. Still, everyone is playing with the same player pool, and there’s plenty of money to be won in the DFS world. You can use our PGA DFS optimizer to that end.

As for this new tournament, the event will be hosted by the Black Desert Resort course in St. George, Utah. The course is a par 71 layout that stretches to over 7,300 yards. It’s a moderate length by today’s PGA TOUR standards. There are 3 par 5s on the course, and there are also a couple of short par 4s that could be reached from the tee with a good drive.
Given that this is a resort course and a new venue, I don’t expect the course to play as a difficult one. These professionals should score plenty of birdies and eagles. The TOUR also doesn’t want to discourage future visits with a tricky setup. Bentgrass surfaces are featured throughout the property. I wouldn’t be surprised to see the winning score get to about 25 under par. I will be looking at birdie makers, and the course also has wide fairways to where I will prioritize bombers and good total drivers of the ball. With no course history to go on, current form takes on a little more importance too.
Let’s carry on to find some of my favorite GPP picks for this week!

PGA DFS Picks: DraftKings & FanDuel GPP Breakdown for the Black Desert Championship
Keith Mitchell
DraftKings: $10,600
FanDuel: $12,000
Mitchell is an aggressive bomber who should fit the type of golfer that plays well on this course. It’s a bit of guesswork with a new venue and event, but the open nature of the course should cater to his game. He’s also in fine form right now, as he was in the mix last week before settling for a 3rd-place finish. He has finished 12th or better in each of his last 3 starts. He leads this field in ball striking over the last 24, 36, and 48 rounds. A win could be coming in this weaker field fall tournaments, and it could very well happen this week.
