PGA DFS GPP Breakdown: BMW Championship
Long-time grinder, stlcardinals84, breaks down his top PGA DFS picks in various price ranges for this week’s tournament. Which golfers should you be targeting to try and take down the big DFS tournaments? Find out below!
The second FedEx Cup Playoff event is upon us this week, after Justin Rose surged from behind to win in a playoff over J.J. Spaun in Memphis last week. While that was a great story, you just have to feel bad for Tommy Fleetwood, who went into the par-5 16th hole with a 2-shot lead and wasn’t even able to make the playoff. He just can’t get over the finish line on American soil. That was hard to watch. To his credit, Fleetwood continues to say the right things publicly. I will be very interested to see how he performs this week.
The top 50 players in the standings have qualified for this 2nd playoff event, the BMW Championship. All 50 have secured spots in all the “signature events” for 2026, and they will be competing this week for a spot in the TOUR Championship next week for the top 30 players in the standings. It should be fun to see how this week goes, as we have another no-cut event on tap. Sepp Straka has withdrawn for personal reasons, so we are down to 49 golfers in the official field.

Caves Valley Golf Club in Owings Mills, MD will be the host course for the BMW Championship. This tournament rotates venues every year, and Caves Valley will be hosting for the 2nd time. This course hosted its first iteration in 2021, where Patrick Cantlay prevailed over Bryson DeChambeau in a playoff after both shot 27-under par for the week.
Don’t be fooled by that winning score.
The course has undergone significant renovations since that 2021 edition. The course will now play as a par 70 instead of a par 72, as 2 of the par-5 holes were converted to long par-4s. Several other holes on the course were also lengthened. This will now play as a brute of a par-70 course that stretches to over 7,600 yards from the tips. I do expect the new layout to be bomber-friendly, so I am prioritizing distance off the tee this week to go along with current form and par-4 scoring as key indicators. I am not going to consider course history very much given all the changes this venue has undergone since the last iteration, but those who played well in 2021 can at least be considered if you are in a tie-breaking situation.
Let’s take a look at some of my favorite GPP options for this 2nd playoff event!
PGA DFS Picks: DraftKings & FanDuel GPP Breakdown for the BMW Championship
Scottie Scheffler
DraftKings: $13,400
FanDuel: $13,100
Scheffler finished T3 in Memphis last week, and it was somehow perceived as a “failure” that he couldn’t hunt down victory. That’s just how high the standards are these days. He still hasn’t finished outside the top 8 in a stroke play event since March. He ranks 8th or better in this field in every single strokes gained category over that time frame. There are no weaknesses- only positives. He has experience at Caves Valley, with a top-25 finish in the 2021 edition, and we know he’s a much better golfer 4 years later. Perhaps more importantly, I like a lot of the value options this week. That makes it easier to fit Scheffler into lineups, and he’s the obvious starting point if you have the salary to get him.
