PGA DFS GPP Breakdown: Butterfield Bermuda Championship

Long-time grinder, stlcardinals84, breaks down his top PGA DFS picks in various price ranges for this week’s tournament. Which golfers should you be targeting to try and take down the big DFS tournaments? Find out below!
The fall swing PGA TOUR season continues this week, but we have just 2 more weeks to make it count before the winter break! The TOUR leaves the United States this week for the Butterfield Bermuda Championship. This will be the 7th edition of this event, and here are the winners from the first 6: Brendon Todd, Brian Gay, Lucas Herbert, Seamus Power, Camilo Villegas, and Rafael Campos. That is not exactly a group of elite golfers. This is another weak field event, and we can definitely expect some unpredictability.

Port Royal Golf Course will be the host venue, as it has been for every edition of the Butterfield Bermuda Championship. This is a very short par-71 layout, as it does not even touch 7,000 yards from the tips. Some golfers have compared it to Harbour Town without all the trees – meaning we have narrow landing areas, which will often take the driver out of their hands off the tee. Approach play and ball striking will be the name of the game. There are usually plenty of birdies available here, as we saw the winning score get up to -24 a couple years ago. However, the main defense that Port Royal has is the wind, and current forecasts are projecting significant wind for virtually every round of this tournament.
Given the windy conditions, Bogey Avoidance will take on more importance for me this week, and looking at apex height is also an interesting angle. Golfers with lower ball flights will be at an advantage in the wind. Otherwise, the primary ball striking/approach metrics are always important along with current form and course history.
Let’s dive in and check out some of my favorite GPP options for the week!

PGA DFS Picks: DraftKings & FanDuel GPP Breakdown for the Butterfield Bermuda Championship
Nicolas Echavarria
DraftKings: $9,700
FanDuel: $11,500

I wrote up Echavarria as one of my favorite options last week, and he closed with a sparkling final-round 63 to finish in 14th place. It was his 2nd consecutive top-15 finish this fall. He always seems to perform well on island courses that are exposed to wind, and I think he could thrive if the wind makes things especially gnarly around Port Royal this week. He has made the cut in each of the last 3 editions of this tournament, and he ranks inside the top 20 of this field in approach play and putting over the last 36 rounds. I think he is a great fit for the course; he’s playing the best golf of his career, and he is an elite top-end option.
