PGA DFS GPP Breakdown: Genesis Scottish Open
Long-time grinder, stlcardinals84, breaks down his top PGA DFS picks in various price ranges for this week’s tournament. Which golfers should you be targeting to try and take down the big DFS tournaments? Find out below!
Hello, Grinders! Welcome back to the PGA DFS GPP breakdown! We have a big major on tap next week with The Open Championship, so the PGA TOUR and the DP World Tour are collaborating this week with a “co-sponsored” event between the two Tours with the Genesis Scottish Open for the third consecutive year.
It is important to note that this is not a relatively “new” event. While many of the PGA TOUR regulars have not played here much, this is a tournament that has been contested annually on the European Tour / DP World Tour. Therefore, we do have more history than you would think for the event. This brings about an important point: Many DFS players will gravitate toward rostering the traditional PGA TOUR players that they are more familiar with. However, the European golfers generally will have an advantage at this tournament, and that’s even more of an advantage for us if they are lower owned.

As for the course, Renaissance Club will play host to the tournament. In the two years since the co-branding debut, the winning score has been -7 (2022 in heavy winds) and -15 (2023 in lighter winds). Wind is the main defense that the course has – as is the case with many courses in Scotland – and it is not expected to be super windy this week. When you add in some pre-tournament rain and softer conditions, I would expect plenty of scoring opportunities to be available. Don’t be surprised if the winning score is better than the -15 mark from a year ago. The course will play as a par 70 with five par threes and three par fives. As usual, ball striking and tee to green play will be the primary metrics that I will be looking at, but good putters can find success here, and I will consider par three scoring with the additional one on the scorecard.
Let’s get to some of my favorite GPP picks for the week!
PGA DFS Picks: DraftKings & FanDuel GPP Breakdown for the Genesis Scottish Open
Xander Schauffele
DraftKings: $11,700
FanDuel: $12,000
Yahoo: $45
In GPP builds, I will preface this discussion by saying that you can let projected ownership be your guide at the top this week. If any player ends up getting steamed up too much in the final pOWN% models, there is likely a lower-owned pivot who will grade out just as well. I’ll opt for Schauffele as my top play for now, as there is clearly enough value on the board to be able to spend up at the top. Schauffele has always shown up in big events, and now that he finally has a major win under his belt, the sky is the limit. He won on this course 2 years ago, and he has now made a whopping 50 cuts in a row in TOUR-sanctioned events. That is a crazy stat. If you are worried about Rory McIlroy after his U.S. Open meltdown, then Schauffele is a logical pivot this week — and he’s fine even if you still like McIlroy! In fact, there might be enough value out there to where you can get BOTH of them if you want.
