PGA DFS GPP Breakdown: Memorial Tournament
Long-time grinder, stlcardinals84, breaks down his top PGA DFS picks in various price ranges for this week’s tournament. Which golfers should you be targeting to try and take down the big DFS tournaments? Find out below!
Welcome back to another week of daily fantasy golf! This week marks an exciting spot on the calendar, as Muirfield Village in Dublin, OH will host the annual Memorial Tournament, which is now an elevated event. That has a strong field assembled even though we have a major tournament next week. 73 golfers are currently in the field, and there will be a limited cut to the top 50 and ties for the weekend.
While this tournament has been around for a long time, we need to at least offer some pause when looking at course history. After the 2020 edition of this tournament, Muirfield Village was almost completely overhauled. New bentgrass surfaces were installed on tees, fairways, and greens. Several holes were lengthened. Green contours were changed. Ever since those changes were done, this course has played even more difficult than ever before, with the field averaging more than a stroke over par per round a year ago.

As for the course, while Muirfield Village is a long par 72, it generally sets up as a second shot golf course. The bigger hitters will have an advantage on the four par fives, but a lot of the other holes mitigate the advantage of distance. As such, I will be focusing on ball striking and approach play, as usual. It is very important to stay below the hole on a lot of the pin locations that are used. Sometimes it is better to be 30 feet short than 15 feet past the hole, and that will be even more of a factor with trickier pins in use. While approach play is paramount, I will take par-five scoring into consideration, as scoring is a necessity on those easier holes. Distance also maybe gets a little bit of a bump with the recent course changes, and I will also emphasize scrambling given that the field averaged hitting just over 50% of greens in regulation a year ago. Basically, you have to be good at everything in order to succeed here!
Let’s take a look at some of my favorite GPP options this week!
PGA DFS Picks: DraftKings & FanDuel GPP Breakdown for the Memorial Tournament
Scottie Scheffler
DraftKings: $12,500
FanDuel: $14,000
Yahoo: $44
I am done trying to find a reason to fade Scottie Scheffler. If he is putting the ball at an average to above average clip, he’s going to be in the mix every single week. The only reason he didn’t win here a year ago was because he absolutely couldn’t putt with any confidence at that point. He’s come a long way with the flat stick over the past year, and it shows with his ridiculous run of form in 2024. The birth of his first child hasn’t slowed him down. His ridiculous arrest at the PGA Championship hasn’t slowed him down. He’s a bit more affordable than he has been in some other tournaments, there’s a limited cut this week, and I like a number of value options. That makes it easy to fit Scheffler into lineups, and he leads this field in basically every tee to green category over any type of sample size you want to use. He finished 3rd in each of his last two visits to Muirfield Village, and it would surprise me if he wasn’t in the mix again this time.
