PGA DFS GPP Breakdown: Procore Championship
Long-time grinder, stlcardinals84, breaks down his top PGA DFS picks in various price ranges for this week’s tournament. Which golfers should you be targeting to try and take down the big DFS tournaments? Find out below!
Welcome back, golf grinders! It’s nice that we have a regular PGA TOUR event on the schedule this week. However, with this being the only PGA TOUR sanctioned event in the month of September thanks to the Presidents Cup, we have a lot of top golfers that have simply decided to take the month off. Given the weak nature of the field, don’t be afraid to expect the unexpected and go with some lower-owned plays this week, as these weak field events often present some chaos.

This event used to be the Frys.com Open back when DFS golf first got rolling. In fact, this was the first event where I ever played a DFS golf contest! After that, it was the Safeway Open. Last year, it was the Fortinet Championship. Now, we have the Procore Championship. Will a sponsor ever stick for this event?
Despite the sponsor changes, the Silverado Course in Napa Valley largely remains the same. As is the case with many courses that we see during the fall, this venue does not require a ton of distance. Precision, ball striking, and touch around the greens will be rewarded on a par 72 layout that is much shorter than your average par 72 stop. The course tops out at a paltry 7,166 yards on the scorecard. That is very short by today’s PGA TOUR standards. None of the par 4s check in at anything longer than 460 yards, and 8 of the 10 measure 425 yards or fewer. A lot of the shorter par 4s will allow golfers to hit wedges for their second shots, so don’t be afraid to focus on golfers with elite short iron and wedge play. However, a lot of scoring will be done on the 4 par 5s, so I am going to prioritize birdie making and par 5 scoring in addition to ball striking. Golfers who are comfortable playing out west get a small bump for me, though not at the expense of current form.
Let’s dig in and find some of my favorite GPP picks for this first FedExCup fall event!

PGA DFS Picks: DraftKings & FanDuel GPP Breakdown for the Fortinet Championship
Sahith Theegala
DraftKings: $10,600
FanDuel: $12,000
Yahoo: $43
Theegala is a tricky golfer to figure out from a projections perspective, as he doesn’t have a necessarily elite single skill that makes him stand out on a specific course. However, his metrics are solid across the entire bag, and he can make birdies in bunches. He also tends to play the same courses well, and he has taken a liking to Silverado over the years. He has appeared here four times, making the cut in each edition with more than 34 strokes gained above field average in those trips. He has finished with a win and a T6 the last two years, and he’s an elite GPP option at the top of this week’s board.
