PGA DFS GPP Breakdown: Procore Championship
Long-time grinder, stlcardinals84, breaks down his top PGA DFS picks in various price ranges for this week’s tournament. Which golfers should you be targeting to try and take down the big DFS tournaments? Find out below!
Welcome back, golf grinders! It’s nice that we have a regular PGA TOUR event on the schedule this week, as a small break in the golf calendar always feels like it lasts forever. This is the only regular TOUR event on the calendar for the month of September with the Ryder Cup coming up in a few weeks. However, we do have a fairly strong field with many of the American participants in the Ryder Cup using this as a tune-up event.

This tournament has changed sponsors over the years, but the host Silverado Course in Napa Valley largely remains the same. As is the case with many courses that we will see during the fall, this venue does not require a ton of distance. Precision, ball striking, and touch around the greens will be rewarded on a par-72 layout that is very short by today’s PGA TOUR standards. However, I do like looking at total driving given the narrow nature of the fairways around this place. Distance will be an advantage on the par 5s, but you also need to be accurate off the tee.
A few holes have been lengthened a bit over the last couple of years, but this course tops out at fewer than 7,200 yards on the scorecard. None of the par 4s check in at anything longer than 460 yards, and 8 of the 10 measure 425 yards or fewer. A lot of the shorter par 4s will allow golfers to hit wedges for their second shots, so don’t be afraid to focus on golfers with elite short iron and wedge play. However, a lot of scoring will be done on the 4 par 5s, so I am going to prioritize birdie making and par-5 scoring in addition to ball striking. Golfers who are comfortable playing out west get a small bump for me, though not at the expense of current form.
The winning score at this event has been -19 or better in 3 of the last 4 editions, so we should expect strong scoring this weekend unless the winds really kick up.
Let’s dig in and find some of my favorite GPP picks for this first FedExCup fall event of 2025!
PGA DFS Picks: DraftKings & FanDuel GPP Breakdown for the Procore Championship
Justin Thomas
DraftKings: $10,200
FanDuel: $11,800
On the surface, it seems like Justin Thomas has been in relatively poor form for the past couple of seasons. However, it may surprise you to realize that the only cuts Thomas has missed in calendar year 2025 were at major championships. He didn’t miss a single cut in a regular PGA TOUR event from January through August. His short game has come around, and while the longer-term stats aren’t as elite as they used to be, perhaps a return to Silverado will help the magic. Thomas has played here 4 times in his career, and he has finished 3rd, 8th, 4th, and 5th in those previous visits. Scottie Scheffler is very difficult to fit into lineups this week, so I like starting with the discount and almost certainly lower ownership on Thomas.
