Long-time grinder, stlcardinals84, breaks down his top PGA DFS picks in various price ranges for this week’s tournament. Which golfers should you be targeting to try and take down the big DFS tournaments? Find out below!

Welcome back to the PGA DFS breakdown article! We had a fun week at the Travelers Championship, where Scottie Scheffler got back to being Scottie Scheffler in a birdie fest up in Connecticut. The course played at a very easy level for the PGA TOUR pros, and we have two more easy courses coming up before the next major in July. Birdies and eagles will be the name of the game for the next two stops.

Tool Highlights

As for this week’s Rocket Mortgage Classic, Detroit Golf Club will host for the fifth straight year. It is a moderate length par 72 layout that generally plays as an easy course. There is very little trouble lurking here, and the course has had the lowest double bogey or worse rate of any course on TOUR over the years it has hosted. Winning scores have ranged from -18 to -26 in the first five years, with the winning score getting to at least -23 all but one time. I would expect the strong scoring to continue this year. The weather looks to be nice for much of the tournament, and today’s golfers are simply too good. With this being a par 72 with little trouble, I will be targeting good par five scorers and birdie makers. Distance off the tee can be a benefit, but this can also turn into a wedge/putting contest at times. Don’t be afraid to take some chances with your GPP builds given the way this course plays, as variance is higher in shootouts. It is not impossible that we might someday see a winning score get to -30 at this venue.

Let’s get to some of my favorite GPP picks of the week!

PGA DFS Picks: DraftKings & FanDuel GPP Breakdown for the Rocket Mortgage Classic

I am going to be underweight on Tom Kim this week, as we have him pushing 40% projected ownership on DK and FD as of the time I am writing this. Cameron Young will also be popular but likely not quite to the same level as Kim. In addition, this is a course where Young can be aggressive with his driver, and I expect the distance to be an edge for him. I like Young over Kim straight up by a decent amount without even factoring in the (likely) lower ownership. Young finished tied for second in his only previous trip to Detroit, and he tends to play better on courses where you can make more birdies. He got warmed up with a T9 and the third round 59 last week, and hopefully that momentum keeps rolling this week.
