PGA DFS GPP Breakdown: TOUR Championship
Long-time grinder, stlcardinals84, breaks down his top PGA DFS picks in various price ranges for this week’s tournament. Which golfers should you be targeting to try and take down the big DFS tournaments? Find out below!
We’ve made it to the end of another PGA TOUR season. It has been another fun season of golf highlighted by dominance from one Scottie Scheffler, but this will mark the end of the current golf “year.”
The top 30 golfers in the FedExCup standings have qualified at East Lake for the TOUR Championship, and the PGA TOUR has scrapped the “starting strokes” format that had been used for the past few years. That’s probably a good thing, but Scottie Scheffler starting with a lead probably isn’t a good idea at this point. It does seem a bit unfair that the #1 golfer is starting at the same point as the #30 golfer, but this is what the TOUR has decided. There’s no perfect answer to this debate.

As for the course layout, East Lake is a demanding par-70 course that requires elite play off the tee, a solid approach game, and an ability to offer touch around the greens. Basically, the course is no pushover and will test every aspect of a golfer’s game. If you aren’t striking it well here, you won’t be rewarded. It will also play as a more difficult course in relation to par now that it has been converted to a par 70. It used to play as a par 71, but the 14th hole has been converted from a par 5 to a par 4 this year.
It is also worth noting that we have 30 of the best golfers on the PGA TOUR competing here. Even the lowest-salaried golfers are still good players. There will also be a lot of roster overlap in DFS builds. In your GPP rosters, it’s wise to consider throwing in some lower-owned options (relatively speaking with a small field) or leaving some salary on the table ($400 or $600 or $800 leftover isn’t a crazy idea this week).
Let’s take a look at some of my favorite GPP options for the season finale!
PGA DFS Picks: DraftKings & FanDuel GPP Breakdown for the TOUR Championship
Scottie Scheffler
DraftKings: $13,900
FanDuel: $14,000
What’s even left to write about Scottie Scheffler at this point? He chased down Robert MacIntyre last week on his way to another win. Since the last week of March, he has the following stats:
13 starts
13 top 10s
9 top 5s
5 wins
It’s just crazy. We haven’t seen this since Tiger Woods. It’s an extended run of dominance. He leads this field in basically every tee-to-green metric over that time span, and he’s top 10 in every metric you can possibly consider. I see no way to avoid playing him in a 30-player field, and I will be looking to get different with cheaper selections. I’ll be overweight on Scheffler even if he is 50% owned.
