PGA DFS GPP Breakdown: Wyndham Championship
Long-time grinder, stlcardinals84, breaks down his top PGA DFS picks in various price ranges for this week’s tournament. Which golfers should you be targeting to try and take down the big DFS tournaments? Find out below!
August is almost here, golf fans! We have the final event of the regular season on the schedule this week, with the FedExCup Playoffs beginning next week. It should be an action-packed week of golf with a lot of movement on the leaderboard. The top 70 golfers in the FedExCup standings after this week will qualify for the start of the playoffs, and every golfer in the 60th-90th place range is teeing it up.
As for this week’s event, we can generally expect a birdie fest at Sedgefield Country Club for the Wyndham Championship. This is a relatively easy par 70 course, as it has played as one of the easier par 70 tracks on the PGA TOUR for the last several years. The winning score has been -18 or better here in 8 of the last 9 editions. Scoring is the name of the game at Sedgefield, and that may be a bit surprising. Par 70 courses usually don’t play as massive birdie fests, but that’s the case with this one.

It is worth noting that accuracy does take on some importance at this course, as the green in regulation numbers dip substantially for golfers who miss the fairway off the tee. I will not be weighing distance at all, as you will see a lot of players club down off the tee in order to try and hit more fairways. Current form and some course history are a nice bonus, especially when they intersect with one golfer. Par 4 scoring will also get some added weight on a course where we have 12 par 4s and only a pair of par 5s. I will also weigh short game a little more than normal, as shootout events with strong scoring conditions often turn into putting contests.
Lastly, we might be able to consider the motivation angle. As I mentioned above, this is the last event before the annual FedExCup playoffs, and the playoffs only include the top 70 golfers in the standings. Most of the “safe” golfers have elected to skip this week, but almost every golfer situated between 60th to 90th in the current standings will be participating. That gives us a lot of “above-average” golfers in this field, and the middle tier is extremely spread out. Expect some unpredictability, and don’t be afraid to go with any type of lineup build. I like some of the value options, which makes a stars-and-scrubs build viable, but I also like quite a few of the mid-range players. It should be a fun tournament!
Let’s get to some of my favorite GPP picks for the week!
PGA DFS Picks: DraftKings & FanDuel GPP Breakdown for the 3M Open
Ben Griffin
DraftKings: $10,100
FanDuel: $11,800
I almost fell out of my chair when I saw that Griffin wasn’t in the field last week. This guy has seemingly played every tournament all season, and I wouldn’t doubt if he was feeling a bit fatigued after missing the cut at the John Deere Classic and The Open Championship. Otherwise, his 2025 season has been spectacular, and he had a streak of 6 consecutive top-15 finishes prior to the pair of missed cuts. The week off should have him refreshed and ready to go for Sedgefield, a course where he has finished 4th and 7th in 2 of his 3 previous trips. He leads this field in total strokes gained and ball striking over the last 36 rounds despite that pair of missed cuts, and he is my top overall projected golfer by a solid margin. Griffin is a great starting point for any lineup build.
