PGA DFS GPP Breakdown: ZOZO CHAMPIONSHIP
Long-time grinder, stlcardinals84, breaks down his top PGA DFS picks in various price ranges for this week’s tournament. Which golfers should you be targeting to try and take down the big DFS tournaments? Find out below!
Welcome back to the PGA DFS GPP Breakdown! We have the ZOZO CHAMPIONSHIP this week, an event that will mark a brief stop in Asia for the 2024 fall season. This is the only Asian stop on the schedule this year, so there is no full “Asian swing” this fall. This tournament is a co-branded event between the PGA TOUR and the Japanese Tour, so several slots in the field will go to top Japanese golfers. It will be a no-cut event with 78 golfers in the field, and all of them will get to play 4 rounds barring withdrawal from the tournament.

As for the host course for the event, Narashino Country Club’s Championship Course will be the host venue for the fifth time. It hosted back in 2019 before the COVID pandemic hit, and it hosted again the past three years. Narashino is a unique par 70 layout that contains 10 par 4s, 5 par 3s, and 3 par 5s. Par-3 scoring might factor into my decision-making for one of the first times that I can remember. Outside of that factor, this is a relatively tight layout that does not require distance off the tee. In terms of comparisons on U.S. soil, Harbour Town Golf Links is the one that pops to the forefront of my mind, but it’s not a perfect comparison. I have also seen TPC Sawgrass and Scottsdale used as correlative courses.
We must also be mindful of scoring conditions. This is not an easy course, though wind is the main defense for the venue. Winds are currently predicted to be calmer than they were last year, so we could see better scoring this time around. For statistical references, I will be focusing on good ball strikers, good current form, and the aforementioned Par-3 scoring.
Let’s check out some of my favorite GPP picks!

PGA DFS Picks: DraftKings & FanDuel GPP Breakdown for the ZOZO CHAMPIONSHIP
Sahith Theegala
DraftKings: $10,000
FanDuel: $11,600
Yahoo: $41
Theegala is perhaps my favorite option at the top of the board. He has played at this venue twice, finishing T5 and T19. While he doesn’t stand out statistically as much as some of the other golfers, that should serve to keep ownership down, and we know that Theegala tends to play the same courses well on an annual basis. He has 4 top-10 finishes since July, including a 3rd-place finish at the TOUR Championship. The form is there, and he clearly likes this course. He also finished the last full season ranked inside the top 20 on TOUR in Par-3 scoring, which is another nice feather in his cap.
