PGA DFS GPP Breakdown: RBC Canadian Open
Long-time grinder, stlcardinals84, breaks down his top PGA DFS picks in various price ranges for this week’s tournament. Which golfers should you be targeting to try and take down the big DFS tournaments? Find out below!
Hello, Grinders! Welcome to another edition of GPP picks for the upcoming RBC Canadian Open!
This tournament has been all over the place during the last 5-6 years. It was canceled in both 2020 and 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The spot on the calendar has rotated over the years. The course has rotated every year since the tournament started back up in 2022. For this year, it has been moved to the week just in front of the U.S. Open, and TPC Toronto at Osprey Valley’s North course will be the new host.
We will also have a wide open field this week since Scottie Scheffler isn’t playing, so someone else will get an opportunity for a win!

Given the above information, course history is largely irrelevant as a metric for this tournament. A few golfers have played here in some secondary non-PGA TOUR events, but this will be the first PGA TOUR experience at TPC Toronto for the entire field. Given that the course has also been renovated in recent years, I am not factoring in history at this venue at all.
I do expect TPC Toronto to play as a relatively difficult challenge. It is a long par-70 layout measuring almost 7,400 yards form the tips, and winning scores for recent competitive events (the course has been used on PGA TOUR Canada and PGA TOUR Americas) have been in the single digits under par. I’m sure the top golfers in the world will do a little more damage scoring-wise, but it won’t be a cakewalk. Golfers who can get up and down from off the green will have a strong edge, and scrambling is a key metric for me. Outside of that, I will be defaulting for strong tee to green and particularly strong approach players.
Let’s dive in and see what TPC Toronto has to offer for GPP selections!
PGA DFS Picks: DraftKings GPP Breakdown for the RBC Canadian Open
Rory McIlroy
DraftKings: $11,900
FanDuel: $13,000
Maybe I shouldn’t have opened things up for the field to contend this week. While Scottie Scheffler is not competing, Rory McIlroy is. McIlroy hasn’t been quite as destructive as Scheffler, but McIlroy has had a strong season in his own right. He hasn’t missed a cut in 2025 and has finished 17th or better in every start with the exception of his last one. He leads this field in ball striking and total strokes gained over the last 36 rounds, and he should be a quick study on a new course. Given the fact that this field drops in strength in a hurry, I am more inclined to try to access the win equity at the top, making McIlroy a fine starting point for any roster build.
