PGA DFS GPP Breakdown: FedEx St. Jude Championship
Top-ranked grinder, STLCardinals84, will break down his top PGA DFS picks in various price ranges for this week’s tournament. Which golfers should you be targeting to try and take down the big DFS tournaments? Find out below.
Hello, Golf Grinders! We have the Fed Ex St. Jude Championship as our first playoff event at TPC Southwind in Memphis. This tournament used to be a typical PGA Tour event for many years before being moved to be a WGC event a few years ago. That didn’t really pan out as a success, so now the tournament has been selected to host the first playoff event for the second straight year. With WGC events now being a thing of the past, that decision appears to be a smart one.
One constant has remained over that time frame, and that is that TPC Southwind can still pose a difficult test. Over the last 13 PGA Tour events held here, only one winner has finished with a score better than -16. A few winning scores have been around the -10 mark. There are no “gimme” holes on this course, and good ball-striking is paramount to success.
Given the playoff format changes this year, we only have 70 golfers competing in this event. That makes it similar to when TPC Southwind hosted the WGC for a few years. The top 50 in the standings following this week will advance to next week’s BMW Championship.
Let’s get to some of my favorite GPP picks of the week!
PGA DFS Picks: DraftKings & FanDuel GPP Breakdown for the FedEx St. Jude Championship
Scottie Scheffler
DraftKings: $12,100
FanDuel: $12,300
Yahoo: $48
There’s just no way to argue that Scheffler hasn’t been the best golfer on the planet in 2023. If you look over any sort of extended sample size, he leads the universe in total strokes gained, off the tee strokes gained, approach strokes gained, ball striking, etc. The only problem has been the putter. Even with those putting woes, he still has just ONE finish outside the top fifteen in the last ten months! That is ridiculous. It also came in his last start at The Open Championship, so maybe some people start to shy away. This should be a perfect course fit for Scheffler, and we have plenty of strong value to choose from this week (especially since it is a no cut event). If you are building multiple GPP rosters this week, you have to get some exposure to Scheffler.
