Hello, golf fans! We are continuing our coverage of European golf with the Irish Open this week! The PGA Tour will be back for a brief appearance next week before taking a break for the Ryder Cup, but we’ve got one more week of the DP World Tour to keep us entertained.
Unlike last week’s tournament, which was played on a short course that has withstood the test of time, this week’s event will be played on a much longer par 72 layout. In addition, the Irish Open rotates venues every year, so we can’t really look at course history. The K Club will be hosting this time around. It has hosted the Irish Open once before, and that was back in 2016.

This is a longer course that will lend itself to hitters that are longer off the tee. It’s no surprise that Rory McIlroy won seven years ago here. Approach play will also be key; this is a traditional layout that will emphasize strong tee to green play.

There is literally no other option that I can endorse at the top of the field this week. He won this event the last time it was played on this course. He thrives on courses where driving distance is a benefit. The tee to green game remains phenomenal. His worldwide form is also impeccable with top 12 finishes in every event he has played since early May. Don’t overthink this one. If you are building a lot of GPP lineups this week, you have to get some exposure to a golfer that has odds to win of around +300. Those kinds of “favorites” don’t come around very often.
