Top-ranked grinder, STLCardinals84, will break down his top PGA DFS picks in various price ranges for this week’s tournament. Which golfers should you be targeting to try and take down the big DFS tournaments? Find out below.

The Masters

The long wait is over! We have arrived at the first full week of April, which means only one thing… It’s Masters Week! With MLB also in full swing and the NBA/NHL playoffs around the corner, times are good on the sports calendar right now. Let the good times begin!

As usual, the year’s first major contains a somewhat limited field. We have a field of 89 golfers assembled for this tournament, which is three fewer than we saw a year ago when Scottie Scheffler won his first green jacket. As for the course, we all know about Augusta National Golf Club. This layout will test every aspect of a golfer’s game. From trees to hazards to speedy, difficult greens to narrow landing areas, every weakness will be exposed by this course. I am much more inclined to value course history at this unique venue, though current form is also a factor. I’m not going to blindly turn to course history at the expense of every statistical measure, but experience has value here. That being said, the good young golfers are starting to buck that trend. Scottie Scheffler had top 20’s in his first two Masters appearances before winning last year. Will Zalatoris has top ten finishes in each of his two trips to Augusta. These young guns are so good that perhaps we over-value Masters history a little too much. It’s a fascinating storyline to follow.

We have no shortage of other storylines, too. The weather could cause problems this week. How will the LIV Tour golfers fare in a stronger field? I’ll touch on this a little more in the article. This tournament should be a ton of fun.

When all around ability comes into play, it’s easy to look at strokes gained: tee to green and ball striking as key metrics, while short game and bogey avoidance can also be mixed in on this difficult course. Par five scoring is also key, as the par fives are by far the easiest scoring holes on this course.

Thanks to the smaller field of golfers, it’s worth noting that the cut rule at The Masters is that the top 50 and ties make the weekend. In addition, there are also a lot of past champions and older golfers in the mix, and many of those players are already unlikely to make the cut. I say this to emphasize that the majority of the good golfers will likely make the cut this week. Getting all six of your golfers to the weekend is paramount in a tournament where a good majority of players will survive to play four days.

With the general talking points out of the way, here are some of my favorite GPP picks for the week!
