PGA DFS GPP Breakdown: U.S. Open

Top-ranked grinder, STLCardinals84, will break down his top PGA DFS picks in various price ranges for this week’s tournament. Which golfers should you be targeting to try and take down the big DFS tournaments? Find out below.
Welcome back to the PGA DFS GPP breakdown! We have another major rolling in with the U.S. Open at Los Angeles Country Club this week. We have never seen this course in traditional PGA Tour play, though it has hosted some collegiate level events. The course measures as a healthy par 70 that plays at over 7,400 yards from the tips during normal play. While it is a par 70, it isn’t your normal routing with two par fives. It has three par fives and five par threes. The par threes will likely play as some of the more difficult holes on the course.
As for the skill set required to succeed at LACC, a golfer will likely need to be solid throughout the bag to contend. Obviously, as a U.S. Open venue, the course will be no pushover. I will be focusing on total driving (combination of accuracy and distance), approach play, and bogey avoidance. Given the extra par three, I will also prioritize par three scoring a little bit. While there is no course history at this specific venue, golfers who tend to succeed at the U.S. Open will likely have a leg up, as the general U.S. Open setup will prevail – firm, fast, with thick rough and challenging hazards.
We have a loaded field for what should be a fun event. This should be very exciting over the four days of the tournament. Let’s get to some of my favorite GPP picks!
PGA DFS Picks: DraftKings & FanDuel GPP Breakdown for the U.S. Open
Rory McIlroy
DraftKings: $9,900
FanDuel: $11,700
Yahoo: $46

Scottie Scheffler is clearly the class golfer on Tour right now, but I can’t ignore McIlroy at a relative discount. Of course, I’m not going to tell you not to play Scheffler, but he’s also going to be very popular. While McIlroy hasn’t closed the door in his past two starts, it has been comforting to see him in contention again after a rough patch during the spring. Despite his on and off form, he still ranks 2nd in this field (behind only Scheffler) in tee to green play over the last 36 rounds, and he is my favorite GPP play in this event.
Max Homa
DraftKings: $9,400
FanDuel: $10,600
Yahoo: $44
